It uses a microphone to analyze the outside sound. The external noise is analyzed and a perfect reflection is made by the phase circuit.

Headphone speakers play anti-noise along with your music. Artificially created anti-noise is the exact opposite of outside sounds that have gone into the device. When the two sounds meet, they both cancel out. The result is that the external noise dissipates and the music you are hearing becomes incredibly crisp and clear.
